Individual counselling involves working with you on a one to one to one basis in a safe, caring and confidential environment. During this process we will explore feelings, beliefs, behaviours or influential memories.
All relationships at some point experience difficulties. Together we will help you identify the problems within your relationship, not ignoring the signs will help work towards change. Such issues may be constant arguments, lack of communication, growing apart, infidelity, lack of appreciation of each other or money worries. Whatever the issue you are not alone, I will provide a caring, supportive and non-judgemental space to work through this rough patch.
Anxiety is a feeling of apprehension and fear. This can manifest into physical symptoms such as sweating, palpitations, restlessness, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, irritability and trouble sleeping. These stresses can happen for various reasons, such as difficult personal relationships, work or financial situations. Anxiety can be constant, overwhelming, distressing and debilitating impacting enjoyment of life significantly. Within therapy firstly we would understand situations causing anxiety, and why anxiety is there. Exploration of your underlying feelings, what increases the anxiety, Discussing current coping mechanisms in place to keep anxiety at bay, exploring more healthy effective alternatives.
Addiction can leave a person with a feeling of emptiness, low self esteem, loss of meaning and purpose. If you are struggling and want to make a change counselling could be the first step towards your goal. Together we can look at situations from a different perspective. Focus on specific feelings and emotions, working towards dealing with life's challenges. Implementing change can promote healing looking forward to the future.
Bereavement and Loss
Grief is a natural response to losing someone or something you care about. Do you feel you are struggling to cope with the intensity of your emotions and life is a struggle. Now may be the time to ask for help. I will not judge or compare you to anyone else. What I will do is provide a safe space to explore what your grief feels like, looks like and means to you.
Living with depression can be distressing and painful. You may find it difficult speaking to friends or family members, who may have the best of intentions. Unfortunately they may not understand what is going on for you, your depression may be affecting them. This can lead to frustration from both parties. Together we can explore what depression looks like for you, discuss strategies to manage stress. This can help to stop your depression getting worse or returning in the future.
There are various causes of trauma, that can cause psychological trauma. If you have experienced trauma you may feel totally overwhelmed and feel unable to cope. You may have been a victim of abuse, involved in an accident, a catastrophic event or been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Reactions are subjective, but common elements include it was unexpected, you was unprepared and there was nothing that could be done to prevent it. It is important to remember that psychological trauma can occur after the event or many years after. If you have been affected seeking help sooner will give you a better chance of being able to move on with your life. I will help you overcome the pain you are feeling and process memories relating to the trauma.Whilst working on regulation of strong emotions to gain a sense of emotional wellbeing.
Self Esteem and Confidence
If you are experiencing low self esteem or confidence this can affect all aspects of your life. Individuals with high self esteem at most times feel good about themselves whilst moving forward in their life's. In contrast if your experiencing low self esteem you are likely to spend time doubting your thoughts and actions. You become your 'worse critic'. As such you may compare yourself to others, feel less than. These negative thoughts over time may lead you to believe that this is true. If you feel that this is causing a lack of enjoyment in life, for example low resilience to face challenges. impacting relationships (fear of rejection) due to feeling unworthy of love, I can help you to explore underlying issues causing this.Allowing yourself time and work it is possible that you can nurture a loving and healthy relationship with yourself. Resulting in a positive and joyful engagement in your life.
